Cafe Bolo in Boca Raton Great Italian Food

Cafe Bolo Italian restaurant

My wife and I were looking for a restaurant last night and wanted to think of not the normal restaurants in Boca.  We were looking for something new.  We stumbled on this place called Cafe Bolo in the Boca Grove Shopping Center on Powerline road just south of Glades near Anthony's Coal Oven Pizza.

The place and ambiance was terrific.  The owner/chef came to our table and greeted us.  We ordered caesar salad and my wife ordered a Chicken Angelo (similar to Francaise) and I ordered the old fashioned Spaghetti & meatballs.  The meatballs were made of veal and were topped off with some cold ricotta cheese.  We were really pleasantly surprised.  Very reasonable prices, and if you want authentic italian food with a full liquor bar you should stop in.  I really thought the food and atmosphere was great.

The City of Boca Residents wants to prohibit public beaches for private development

A group of Boca Raton residents are petitioning to prohibit the use of public beaches for private development.  What has precipitated this was a 15 acre section of land that is owned by the city near Gumbo Limbo is still zoned residential.  The City of Boca received an offer from a developer to purchase that land and turn it into a private beach club.  The City rejected it so far, but the residents are fearful that either it may resurface again or another developer can give the City of Boca an offer they cannot refuse.  The land has been used as a park ever since the city purchased it in 1994.

The residents are determined to collect at least the 976 signatures it needs to get this issue on the ballot.

Boca Raton Holiday and Realtor Appreciation Party a Huge Success

Boca Raton Holiday Party Picture

We had our 4th annual Holiday & Realtor Appreciation Party last Friday and it was a huge success.  We had over 110 agents come by to say hello.  It really is a great party because many of the top agents from all different companies come together and it is a time to get to know one another on a more personal level.  We had some music and lots of great food including a deep fried turkey, Franklin Goldberg's famous potato latkes, and more.  We raffled off a basket valued at $150, a netbook valued at $400, and a cake basket valued at $50.

In order to win the netbook you had to guess how many jelly beans were in the jar?  How many do you think?  The winner was Andrea Volpe who was 32 jelly beans off.  Another agent Evelyn was 33 off.  1 away.  Any guesses on how many jelly beans are in this jar?

Jelly Beans at Boca Raton party

We really love having these parties and we even did a Chinese Auction this year where people would bring a $15-$20 wrapped gift.  Everyone who brought a gift receives a number and that is the order you pick the gifts.  When your number is up you have the option to select any of the previous gifts that were opened already or one of the wrapped gifts.  I thought this gift was great.  Pretty funny.  We all had a great time with it.

The City of Boca Holiday Parade December 8th at 7:30 PM

It is really nice to live in a city that cares about its citizens.  I have never been so proud of the city I live in than the day after Thanksgiving this year.  Now that The City of Boca Raton owns the Amphitheater at Mizner Park it decided to kick off the holiday season with a tree lighting and fireworks show and a carnival.

There was everything for everyone.

  • Train ride for the kids
  • They brought in Snow to play with as you know Florida does not exactly have snow naturally
  • A big slide
  • lots of games
  • Street fair with vendors
  • Amazing fireworks display that were shot off the balconies and a tree lighting.

There was music and Allen West and the mayor Susan Whelchel was there as well.

This all leads up to the 40th Annual Holiday Street Parade on December 8th and the 34th annual Boat Parade on December 18th.

The Holiday Street Parade called "Holidaze Tropicale" starts at 7:30 PM
