What if the Fans Stuck together and Strike!

I as many people are huge fans of the NFL and football.  I am a suffering Miami Dolphins fan and an avid fantasy football player.  So the thought of no football in 2011-2012 season is daunting.  I with all my heart want to see football this season.

I do not know if many of you have heard, but the meetings over the possibility of a new collective bargaining agreement did not go so well.  There was a point where the owner of the Carolina Panthers actually spoke down to both Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.  It got kind of ugly.  The crux of the argument is how to split up the 9 billion dollars in revenue.  The owners want to take 2 billion for themselves and the rest be split up.  The players want it split 50/50.  Either way it is a pretty good problem to have when you are talking about 9 billion dollars.  Many of us cannot even fathom 1 billion dollars.

Did you know 1 billion seconds ago it was 1952?  Now we are talking about 9 billion dollars.

I have been very optimistic up to this point that a deal would get done, but now not so much.  I remember when baseball striked in 1994-1995.  I was an avid baseball fan at that point and certainly took awhile to get me back.  The NHL striked and I am still not a fan anymore.

If the players and owners cannot agree on a deal why do us fans have to sit there and listen to owners and players complaining about how to split up 9 billion dollars.

I truly believe the fans should strike.  Maybe if 50% of the fans that regularly attend games decided not to go anymore that ticket prices and concession sales would come down.  The idea of diminishing returns would come in effect and the game would become the fans again.  I heard an owner say "the previous CBA was a terrible deal for the owners.  We need our league back"  What about the fans Mr. Owner.  We need our game back too.  Stop trying to charge the regular fan so much we have to mortgage our houses to pay for season tickets and just to take the family to the game once in awhile.  Without the fans you have no league.

I am all for a Fan strike!!  Who is coming with me?
