The City of Delray Beach continues to spearhead a greener movement.  The City of Delray Beach partnered with a company called Plug in Florida.  Plug in Florida actually donated 6 charging stations for downtown Delray Beach.  The City of Delray Beach's hope is that they can install electric stations in every downtown city owned parking lot. 

The great thing about this movement is that anybody can use these electric car charging stations for free and the tax payers did not have to pay for these as they were donated.  The charging stations should be installed by the end of next week.  Electric car movement has officially begun in downtown Delray Beach.

Realtors are a fixture in South Florida's community, and although many real estate agents give back to the community they help build, Susan Horne is a little different. Susan Horne is a real estate agent in Delray Beach, FL. for RE/MAX Services. She has come from very modest beginnings and through hard work and perseverence has become one of the most recognized real estate agents in the area. With this recognition she has used her time to spend at Prison Fellowship to help teach inmates what life is like in society when they do get released. She also gives back to the kids of these inmates by doing functions and giving presents during holiday times.

Her new charitable work is at a new Church in downtown Delray Beach called Avenue Church. This church is designed to help recovering drug addicts and alcoholics. It is designed to help these people recover. Susan believes that unless we help not just the less fortunate, but the people who are shunned in many cases Delray Beach will not become a prospering community. When asked why she contributes to these charities Susan said "Many of these people do not have a direction. They do not believe in anything because people throughout their life have looked the other way. Their families have not loved them, and everyone needs love in their homes"

We often talk about role models for our children. I can honestly say that I want my children to look up to Susan as a role model. She is an amazing person who has a huge heart and realizes the need of community and peace.

Residents have been protesting for months about the possibility that the discount giant Walmart may be built on Linton and Federal Highway. Yesterday we found out that Walmart has pulled their zoning request which essentially means Walmart will no longer attempt to build a store on Federal and Linton.

"That is welcome news says Tropic Isle resident Jackie"  We really did not know what would happen if Walmart was built in our neighborhood.  This is a wonderful very close residential community that really did not want Walmart here.  There is already one 3 or 4 miles up the road on Linton.  I am very happy about this news"  

Like Jackie, many residents feared that Walmart would bring a huge amount of traffic into their intimate waterfront community.  Now they have to worry no more.   

I pass by this place all the time as we frequent to the restaurants and shops in downtown delray beach and I thought I would stop in.  My in-laws are planning on moving from manhattan to boca or delray and are looking for a luxury rental building within walking distance of shoppes and restaurants.  Worthing Place has an amazing location.  It was perfect.  The staff was very courteous.  The leasing consultant was very nice and showed me around, but when she showed me the model, how disappointing.  It has plush carpet and very inexpensive finishings.  I thought I would see wood flooring and much nicer finishes.  Maybe I am spoiled, but if you are spending $3000 a month on a 2 bedroom plus den apartment not on water I would think you would get a little but nicer place.  Oh well, great location, great amenities, but not really nice apartments.
