Good luck recruiting. It seems to be the game for brokers these days as many agents feel the grass may be greener on the other side. May be, may not be....

Randall, thank you. I am not really trying to pitch new agents. I want to show agents that if they are not getting what is important to them at their existing company they should look at other companies, and maybe they will be able to be more successful.
Gabe, thank you. I definitely know this from experience grass is not always greener on the other side that is why agents should define what is important to them, and have a business plan that uses those characteristics to help them become more successful, and if they are looking at options in Boca Raton they should think of me as an option.

I'm an a 95% plan with RE/MAX here in Prescott...I'm an old compensation hack in the corporate world and modeled all the local plans in Excel...the 95/5 worked out the best until GC was $144k.
Thanks for publishing your plan...amazes me how many companies keep their plans close to their vests...open book management is new to the RE world.

I agree it is a great time to evaluate your company! I believe the face of real estate is changing and a company needs to be in touch with what is happening, not just locally, but regionally and nationally...in order to still be around when the smoke clears. I think we will see the demise of companies who never turned a profit even in the good times because they were so busy giving money back to consumers they FORGOT to run a business!
Commission splits are only part of the evaluation process. Fees, support, training, tech, referral opportunites and promotional opportunites matter. You gotta know where you want to go with your business before you choose! Not every model works for every agent and some models don't even work for the broker!

What's the monthly cost to get to a 95% commisison split? Is that the only plan offered, or is there a lower cost/lower split option?

Sarah Gray thank you for your comments. You absolutely have to look at everything that the business brings to you. Your company should be working for you.
Tim the monthly fees vary depending on past and potential production. Yes we do offer as low as 75%, but we only have 1 agent on that plan. We typically do not have many agents on that plan because they are doing at least 3 to 4 million a year. If you pay $650 a month and you get 95% of the commission or you pay no fees and you get 75%. the difference in commission on our average of $100,000 in gross commissions would be:
95% you receive $95,000 less $7800 which equals $87,200
75% you receive $75,000. You are giving up $12,200 of your commission every year. An average agent works for 10 years. That is $122,000 over your 10 year career.
If you are not a top producer or do not want to be then the RE/MAX system or others like it may not be for you, but if you want to invest in your career, and work with the best you may want to look at this as an option.
I am not one to say how great REMAX is and no one else compares, but I do believe REMAX gives an agent the tools to succeed, and it is up to the agent to utlize them. If not then don't go with a remax. Times are tough now, but you have to look at the future and not just the present. GOod luck.
