I have several reasons why we need to get away, and get away a lot.
- As real estate agents we need to wear many hats. We deal with people on a daily basis so we have to hear all of our client's personal, family, and medical problems.
- We also have to play secretary by scheduling their moving dates, inspection dates, appaisal dates, when to put kippy the dog for boarding, and anything else you can dream up.
- We have to cater to our client's every need. Sure I can pick up your groceries just give me the list. No probelm I would love to pick you up from the airport 50 miles away and show you homes that you cannot afford. Not a problem I would love to continue to show you homes because you have nothing to do, and would love to look at nice homes. Would you like me to change your bed pan too.
- We have to be knowledgeable about 3421 communities. Make sure we do not slip up or the homeowners will let you know.
I do make fun, but I seriously love what I do, but in order to continue to be successful especially in this market you must take vacations even if it is a day or 2. I decided to take my family on a boat on a Thursday last week because I needed to get away we boated all through Boca Raton and Jupiter. A great day, and now I am even more refreshed.

David - you are so right. We must recharge and re-energze ourselves. I for one have been working way too much and not having nearly enough time away from real estate. That is all changing .... it absolutely has too! Glad to hear you enjoyed your time boating with your family. That's what life is really all about anyway. Real Estate is a means to an end. Your family is blessed to have you focus on them.
David: You have identified a very salient dynamic. If you let clients, and prospects, they will eat up every minute of every 24 hours you have. A little time away helps me keep a smile on my face and enthusiasm in my voice.
Hi David - I agree. We do have to schedule times for ourselves and just get away from it all every now and then. However, we need to find a way to schedule our "diversion" times so we don't interfere with serving clients. lol
Kathleen thank you for your comment. We really do have to enjoy time with our family, and get away. It is so easy to get caught up in real estate pergatory. Good luck and Get Away!
Matt thank you for your comment. It sure puts a smile on my face everythime I get away. Thanks again.
Jon so very important to schedule time for ourselves and ou family. Partner up with someone to watch your business while you are gone and repay them when you go out of town.
David,
You are so right. We like many people in service industries are at the mercy of our clients. You would be shocked at some of the requests we get in the credit repair end of the biz!!!
Happy Monday!!
Lori
Lori, I can only imagine the requests. Lets all go away. We need a big AR vacation
Rest and relaxation is a must to stay fresh. I personally dont want to get to the end of the track to find out I missed the ride.
Laura agree wholeheartedly. Thanks for your comment.
Hi David, you are so right. But I take two weeks a year and 4 three day weekends and sometimes I don't think that is enough. Don't get me started about th evacation where a client actually got a boat and come out to where we were fishing because he need a few questions answered.
Charles wow that is crazy. I do not tell my clients where I am going, but geez even if I did that takes some chutzbah. Thank you for your comment.
