Real estate is about helping others succeed as well as you.
How many of you have given business to a pool guy, inspector, mortgage broker or contractor who does not seem to appreciate you? We all have. When you continue to give business to these people they expect that you want money or a kickback. Obviously most of us do not accept money as it is illegal in most cases. I do not look for money. I am looking for a thank you. We all need to be appreciated.
If you do not take the time to say thank you then I do not take the time to give you business. You know what the great thing about being in the Real Estate Business is?
We get to choose who we want to work with. If I do not like working with you then I don't continue to. If I find you difficult. Then I am not working with you.
I want to surround myself with people who appreciate the efforts I make to help everyone succeed. Real Estate is not about you or I
- It is about the consumer.
- It is about the succession of your small businesses.
- It is about keeping the momentum of the market.
Have you ever thought of how many people actually get paid in one single real estate transaction?
- The Real Estate Agent.
- The Seller (Most of the time, and maybe not nearly as much in this market)
- The Appraiser
- The Surveyor
- The Inspector
- The Title Company
- The Mortgage Broker
- The Real Estate Company
- The Lender
- The Credit Report Company
- The Real Estate Sign Company
- The Attorney
- The Flood Certification Company
- The Document Preparation Company
- The Government
- The Scanning Company
- The Storage Company
- The Association
That is all in one single real estate transaction. Do they all say Thank You? Not many of them. Why are we not doing more to spearhead the real estate market? 1 single deal pays 17 small deals not to mention afterwards
- The Pool Company
- The Lawn Company
- The Handyman
- The Contractor
- The Alarm Company
- The Painter
That is just a few off of the top of my head. We need to be doing more to help increase the number of transaction sides. The stimulus bill does very little in terms of real estate. I hope they do more not just because I am in the real estate business, but because most of my friends are owners of small businesses. If we do not do anything for these small businesses then we have failed and we may be looking at a state of Depression. My answer is to stop the foreclosures, and to keep people in their homes to lessen the inventory which in turn will increase the demand. We have to do something now and definitely not later.
I want people to say Thank You More!!

Thank you!
Thank you for a great post. :D
This reminds me of a sad situation that happened to me last week. I had a meeting, and I am sorry to say I was contacted through AR by this person, that did not go very well. He called and told me he did his due diligence and decided my Company was the one he wanted to send his clients to. After spending tooo much time on the phone and then meeting him in person,he got to the point. He will send us business if we pay him!!!Needless to say he will not be sending us business. It is illegal for us to pay a kickback. Even if it weren't we would not do it!!! If you send clients to us do it because you know we will do what we say. What really bothers me is he has no concern for the clients. He will now most likely send his clients to anyone who pays him, no matter their ability to do the work!!
How Sad.......
Happy Tuesday!!

Most of the people I deal with, they do say "thank you" and I appreciate it. The real estate market affects a lot of people.
I typically send a thank you card to the attorney representing my client and the other agent involved in the transaction. And of course, my client gets a huge 'thanks' and a token of my appreciation. Thank you for posting this!
A simple thank you really does go a long way. I can definitely see where you're coming from!
Thank you Jared.
Thank you Mary Paul.
I have to agree, a Thank You goes a long way. Those are the people we remember. Let's all make sure we keep thanking the people that make our jobs possible, and they intern will remember us (in a possitive way). It's about integrity and being thankful for the blessings we have in our lives, let's celebrate them by saying THANK YOU.
A simple thank you goes a long way. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. I like when people say thank you. I've given clients closing gifts and heard. "Oh, isn't that nice," "I wasn't expecting a gift," or "We're still moving in" rather than Thank You. What's up with that?
David- Thanks for the great post! :) It's such a simple thing to say 'thank you', but so many people don't. We all need the reminders!
Wow David! Thanks for the great post. It's amazing to think of all of the small businesses that benefit from a real estate transaction.
I like the list of people that benefit from a real estate transaction. Nice post.
David - Great Post! I'm like Gita I like the list - I think I'll save it. And how about a THANK YOU from the Buyers! Geez - is it really so hard? I tell them if it was an easy deal for them then I did my job because they never knew there were issues - and aren't there always.
Of course if you do your job the big Thank You is referrals from your clients - and this is what I depend on - so yes I guess they do say Thank You!
THANK YOU DAVID!!!!

Yes, thank you for the post. I have person who sends me a lot of referrals. Most of them are duds, but I thank him after each and every one.
I What would a thank you post be without thanking each and everyone of you. I do very much appreciate your comments, and I am following many of your blogs. Thank you:

Thank yoo for making me think. It is so simple but some people expect everyone to bend over backwards for them.
